Processing Day

Chad was up early and headed to Warwick Aero Modellers field just south of town. Weather was gusty with rain showers when he left.

Henry, Terri, John, Kelly and I all went over to Warwick's Gardens Galore across the street at 8 am for breakfast.  It has a huge coffee shop out back and served up breakfasts.  It was great!

Chad reported a long line of pilots waiting to fly at the field so he was probably only getting one flight in before packing up and heading to Aircraft Processing.

We caught a ride with John and, with Henry and Michi following behind, easily found the processing building at the Warwick Airport. The guys assembled their planes as we waited our turn after Team Japan.

Henry is ready!

Team Japan - Very sharp!

Checking for correct markings.

Dimension check... max 2000MM length.
Henry points out a small paint imperfection to Phil Spence! :-)

Weight check on Michi's Akuma.

Some checks on motor cut off, FAI Licenses and final paperwork and we were done in under 20 minutes. Great job by everyone to get us processed successfully.

Chad    A - 4840 gr  B - 4920 gr

Michi  A - 4740 gr  K - 4950 gr

Henry B - 4600 gr

We then posed for a group photo....

We headed back to the hotel to change and grab a bunwich for lunch. Kelly was off on an adventure and John and I headed down to the Warwick Aero Modellers site.  The winds made flying difficult/impossible so it was very quiet. BJ of BJ Craft flew his plane well but the landing was a major struggle to make smooth.  We visited with Andrew Jesky, Mark Atwood, CPLR and a few others over then next hour or so. Finally a break in the winds and Lassi took to the skies with a nice P round.  Also spotted a family of Kangaroos hopping around!

John and I headed back to the airport and attended the Managers Meeting. Simon Atkinson and Brian Dooley ran the meeting and explained the layout of the site, it's rules and the schedule of events. Team members all fly at the same flight line and alternate between sites 1 & 2 each of the four preliminary days. All well done and we were out of there in 30 minutes.

Managers meeting... more arrived shortly after this pic was taken.

Back at the motel, we enjoyed a fantastic home made sushi dinner by Lian Akimoto! It was absolutely fantastic and the healthiest food we have had since arrival!!

Sushi Feast about to get underway!

Chef Lian hard at work!

Official team practice and opening ceremonies on tap for tomorrow.
