A little bit of a sleep in this morning as Henry is flying at 8:48 on Site 2. John unfortunately had a tire issue with his rental car and was off early to get it repaired so Kelly and I headed out with a quick stop at McDonalds for a coffee.
At the flying site, Henry was already in the ready box awaiting his turn. He was a bit early but that’s better than late!

He had a good round going but the spin once once again problematic. A little too much idle thrust caused the plane to really never slow down enough to stall properly. He made some adjustments and will nail the next round. (I will attach both score sheets for each pilot)

With both Chad and Michi flying in the afternoon, we headed back to town. A quick bathroom stop at the hotel and then a gas fillip for our Kia rental car.
We went to the Warwick Aero Modellers again as we really didn’t the time available to go farther afield. Chad and Michi both had a couple flights and Henry arrived later to work on spin entry power settings. It was all fixed I am told.
Kelly had a good visit with some of the locals at the club and was really hoping to see some kangaroos… sadly they sleep at this time.
At noon we headed back to the main competition site at the airport and quickly found Site 2 again. Both Michi and Chad had their planes ready as we waited for their respective start times.
Batteries checked, and with John helping, Michi took to the clear blue skies for his second preliminary flight in slight blow out conditions. He had a good flight overall with a few minor issues.
Ready to go! |

The Japanese judge was not to kind in his scoring this time around.
Chad was up next and managed yet another very consistent flight in front of the judging panel. Some very minor center issues with the Figure M but excellent geometry otherwise. Very solid.

Scores after day 2 with lowest dropped for some reason. |
We returned to the motel and had a debrief on the days events. Michi was a bit disappointed but we talked him off the edge :-) Dinner was Chinese and we are all stuffed full. We worked some of it off on the 8 minute walk home.
Afternoon flying slots tomorrow for Canada so a trip to a practice field early is in the cards.
Note: One of the pilots on Line 2 had inadvertently plugged in his bottom wing backwards and his ailerons functioned incorrectly. Didn’t catch it until he was in the start box. Sadly his back up plane was in the van.
